We’re looking for a Coffee Shop Manager, Monday to Friday, to manage our coffee shop (opening late November/December). The coffee shop will be located in our innovation gallery and concept store, Fabrica X. It aims to deliver exceptional hospitality, a welcoming environment and foster a community for people to connect over coffee - all while keeping sustainability and innovation front of mind.
Our coffee shop manager will manage one other barista and will report to the Fabrica X Manager. The start date for this role is mid-November.
We want our Coffee Shop Manager to strive to:
Consistently deliver coffee to a high standard
Provide exceptional customer service and build relationships with our customers, co-working members and local community.
Act as a spokesperson for Fabrica X.
Ensure baristas work sustainably, minimise waste where possible and consider the environmental impact of the coffee shop.
Bring new ideas to further integrate sustainability and innovation into the coffee shop’s practices, ingredients and retail items.
Core duties & responsibilities:
Operations Management:
Manage the day-to-day operations of the coffee shop, including opening and closing procedures.
Order and manage stock (coffee beans, milk, packaging, etc.). Monitor stock age (allowing coffee beans to sufficiently age before use, expiration dates) and minimise wastage.
Organise staff rota.
Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and licences.
Ensure the bar and retail items are fully stocked at the start and end of each day.
Maintain a clean and organised coffee shop, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
Customer Service & Experience:
Deliver outstanding customer service, creating a welcoming environment for all customers.
Represent Fabrica X to all guests with a clear understanding of the business.
Ensure fast, efficient service while maintaining high standards.
Coffee Quality & Barista Leadership:
Dial in shots, record the weight, volume & extraction times of shots, and the batch of coffee being used. This should be done at the start of the shift and throughout the day when possible.
Ensure coffee quality and consistency is maintained throughout the day.
Train, mentor, and lead the barista team, ensuring high standards.
Keep baristas informed of recipe and coffee changes.
To ensure standards are being upheld by any Barista employed by Fabrica X.
To effectively lead the Barista team by example and implement efficient systems and policies.
Sales & Promotion Support:
Assist with promotional activities, including social media and retail/wholesale events.
Contribute ideas for improving sales, promotions, and customer experience.
Ideal candidate:
Minimum 4 years experience as a barista.
Minimum 2 years experience in a coffee shop managerial / head barista role.
Confident dialling in the coffee machine and creating coffee (espresso and batch brew) recipes.
Ability to troubleshoot issues with the coffee machine and grinders.
Ability to maintain equipment (coffee machine, grinders, burr changes etc).
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to lead, motivate, and train another barista.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
A passion for coffee and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
Understanding of health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
