Have you ever wondered how your salary and experience match up against those with similar skills in your city?
A very common problem faced by Baristas, Front of House Staff, Assistant Managers and coffee professionals is not knowing how much their time and experience is worth. Equally, businesses are also often unaware of what is a competitive salary to offer team members in different positions.
This creates salary disparities in the market that could be better understood if the right information was available.
For this reason, we are adding a Salary Benchmark feature to Coffee Jobs Board.
We are asking businesses and job seekers to disclose the salary offered for a role and current salary/pay rate respectively (data received will not be linked to any candidates profile).
With your help, we will be able to collect real data points to bridge that knowledge gap and strive for salary transparency across the board.
With this information, we will be able to share up to date average wages and salary bands for the most common coffee roles. This should help negotiate better salary rates and to improve retention and set better career paths for team members. Businesses will be able to offer a more harmonised pay rate for the different roles and experiences they hire.
Employers will be able to share this information when posting an advert, or retrospectively from their dashboard.
Job seekers will also be prompted to share information, and we will hold this data separately from personal information to prevent it being linked to candidate profiles.
With your help we can then publish salary benchmark guides for candidates, employers and share industry wide salary and pay insights on a regular basis.
We know it can be a little awkward to talk about money, but we're hopeful that workers can benefit from understanding their workplace value and employers can understand their competitiveness and ultimately improve their retention by understanding pay versus value.
