Old Spike - Wholesale Training and Account Manager

At Old Spike we are looking for an experienced and driven Wholesale Training & Account Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate for this role will be a coffee professional who is passionate about training and exceptional customer service, through account management, to help drive sales and enhance Old Spike’s reputation.

The Wholesale Training & Account Manager role is a multi-faceted role. You will straddle the gap between service, training, and sales, between company interest and customer interest, and between product expertise and customer insight. When done right, the Wholesale Training & Account Manager role will be integral to the growth of Old Spike.

We see the Wholesale Training & Account Manager profile more like a training and education profile than a sales one. You must leverage your training ability to help develop the capability of baristas and managers across a large work force. You will need to use your knowledge of the barista skills needed in specialty coffee, machine maintenance and Old Spikes products to add meaningful and lasting impact to our customer.

Wholesale Training & Account Manager responsibilities:

The Wholesale Training & Account Manager will have two clear areas of responsibility. The main responsibility will be ensuring an exceptional and consistent end-to-end experience for our largest account that services 60 sites across the UK. This will be done through:

• Build rapport with area and site managers with our largest client and work collaboratively with our team to turn these relationships into a long term, meaningful business partnership.

• Targeted, daily site visits to coach and train the teams across the account focusing on those sites that require support.

• Site audits to ensure high standards of coffee quality and customer service are maintained. Feeding back the results and developing action plans to improve the performance.

• Support the Biweekly training at our Specialty Barista Academy in Shoreditch to deliver 2 foundation barista courses for our key customer. This will also include delivering 3 further workshops to help stretch and develop the baristas and managers skills further.

• New opening training for any new accounts that we bring on board via our key account or our Wholesale manager.

• Be the escalation point and find resolution to issues raised by the customer directly or via our technical services or operational teams.

• Seek and explore opportunities to improve margins and revenue growth opportunities with existing our client and the broader market.

• Be a champion for the brand, actively supporting the brand’s messaging and customers across social platforms.

• Weekly and monthly feed back to the Old Spike leadership team to present the KPIs for the key account.

The second area of responsibility will be driving revenue and the Old Spike experience through event management. Organising and implementing pop up events for Old Spike with our key account and through external enquiries. This includes:

• Staffing the cart and where needed arranging additional barista support.

• Maintenance and cleanliness of the Old Spike coffee cart, machine, and grinders to a high level.

• Ensuring the cart is fully stocked with barista accessories, coffee, marketing material, milk, filtered water (where needed) for the events.

• Co-ordinate, with the roastery team, the logistics of the cart to and from events.

• Help drive opportunities for the coffee cart to drive this revenue stream with targeted outreach to events where we could use the cart.

Essential Criteria:

• Minimum 2 years specialty coffee training experience.

• Preferred experience in an Account Manager role in the coffee sector selling quality coffee and machinery to customers.

• Proven experience of machinery knowledge, calibration, and troubleshooting.

• You are results orientated and have a proven track record in delivering against targets and motivating a team.

• Evidence of hospitality, corporate and food service sales – pre-existing relationships within these fields would be preferable.

• You have a structured and organized approach to the week, with a proven ability to work autonomously and/or under management.

• Great communication and interpersonal skills.

• Demonstrate excellent commercial awareness with experience in developing commercial contracts for new wholesale customers.

This is a mobile role, predominantly London based but there will be an element of travel around the UK.
