People and culture manager

Origin is positioned as one of the leading speciality coffee roasters in the UK. We source and roast incredible direct trade coffees where seasonality, provenance and traceability are at the heart of our supply chain. We are a member of the B-Corp community and in all our business activities look to balance purpose with profit. Origin wholesale supply speciality coffee to the leading independent cafes, hotels and hospitality businesses across the UK and Europe and also own and operate six cafes.

The business is located on the south coast of Cornwall, in Porthleven. We live and work in one of the most desirable places in the UK. The roastery is within walking distance to the harbour, beaches and one of the best surf breaks in the country. A relocation package and support is available for the right candidate.

The person

We want our people to be the embodiment of Origin and naturally aligned with speciality coffee and the B-Corp agenda. We are looking for an experienced human resources professional that is commercially aware and ideally has a background working with consumer brands.

Your responsibilities:

Recruitment: Managing the recruitment process by helping to identify talent, screening candidates, acknowledging and responding to applicants, shortlisting and interviewing.

Continuous professional development: encouraging skills development, maintaining training records, creating a culture of learning and development.

Induction: lead the onboarding process, ensuring integration of new employees into company structure, operational processes and culture.

Performance and assessment: review and implement changes to the staff engagement and performance review process, building peer review and three way communication.

Engagement: coordinate, conduct and monitor employee engagement and report and suggest improvements.

Wellbeing: acknowledge and respect mental health and wellbeing and develop policies and communications that support show compassion to those that are in need, at the same time balancing the companies legal requirements and compliance with occupation health.

Compensation and benefits: work with the company directors to review and improve benefits available to the team.
