Job Title: Head Barista (Full-Time/Part-Time) & Shop Assistant

About Us: Bija is an exciting new independent coffee shop specialising in single-origin Indonesian coffee beans, located in the heart of St James’s Market, Piccadilly, London. We are dedicated to introducing the rich and diverse flavours of Indonesian coffee to London. At Bija, our priority is to provide exceptional coffee experiences, complemented by warm hospitality and a cozy atmosphere for our customers to enjoy.

Role Overview: As part of the Bija team, you will play a crucial role in delivering a unique and memorable coffee experience to our customers. We are seeking individuals who are passionate about coffee, customer service, and contributing to the growth of a new independent business. Whether you’re leading the coffee-making process as a Barista or assisting with daily operations and customer interactions as a Shop Assistant, your role is vital to our success.

Position: Head Barista/Barista (Full-Time/Part-Time)

Responsibilities:

• Create and serve specialty coffee drinks with expertise in espresso, pour-over, and other brewing methods.
• Demonstrate skill in latte art, adding an artistic touch to our coffee offerings.
• Lead daily coffee shop operations, ensuring high standards of coffee preparation and customer service.
• Train and mentor junior baristas and staff in coffee brewing techniques and customer service.
• Manage inventory and order supplies as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the coffee bar area.
• Ensure equipment is maintained and cleaned according to health and safety standards.
• Engage with customers to share knowledge about coffee and provide a welcoming experience.

Requirements: * Previous experience as a barista, with a strong passion for specialty coffee. * Knowledge of Indonesian coffee is a plus, but not required; training will be provided. * Excellent communication and leadership skills. * Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment. * Flexibility to work full-time or part-time in early morning hours, including weekends and holidays.

Position: Shop Assistant (Full-Time/Part-Time)

Salary: £10.50 - £12.00 depending on experience

Responsibilities: * Assist customers with purchases, providing excellent customer service at all times. * Help in serving light bites, pastries, takeaway packed lunches, and toasties to customers. * Support the baristas during busy periods by taking orders and serving coffee. * Keep the shop clean, organised, and well-stocked. * Handle cash and card transactions accurately.

Requirements: * Previous retail or customer service experience is preferred. * Friendly and outgoing personality. * Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a busy environment. * Interest in coffee and food service, with a willingness to learn. * Flexibility to work full-time or part-time hours, including weekends.
