Be a force for good in the coffee industry by supporting people with SEND.

Who are We

SEND, standing for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, is a coffee company delivering real impact through our charity & social enterprise model. We work with young people aged 18-25 with special needs and disabilities, training them up to be baristas in a competitive market.

We are a management team with combined experience of well over a hundred shop openings or operations, making us one of the most experienced teams in speciality coffee. We still work barista shifts ourselves, as does everyone in the company, meaning this is an opportunity to join a barista led organisation.

We have a small estate of coffee shops around London - namely Curators, Hidden, and Clarnico. We are opening several new sites this year and we want to line up the right person to manage the new shops.

The Job Details

We are looking for a General Manager

You will be in charge of the site, running it as your own business with the support of the wider company.

All staff will report in to you, and with our support you will manage their development.

You will be supported by the other site managers, and the SEND Coffee management team.

This role will need you to be confident enough on coffee making to do it fast without compromising on quality. There is also some light food prep as part of the role.

We want to make sure people applying have read the job ad thoroughly, so please include your favourite colour as part of the application.

Who are You

Being a Manager at such a key site, this cannot be your first management role.

As a company with such clear barista values, this cannot be your first barista job even with other management experience.

You need to be;

  • Excellent with people
  • A great communicator, with a big social battery.
  • Patient
  • A brilliant barista
  • Confident across a range of espresso machines
  • Have a right to work in the UK and be able to pass an enhanced DBS check
  • Able to get to East Central for early starts
  • Experienced with P&L management

And you’ll ideally be;

  • Passionate about social enterprise and speciality coffee
  • Experience working in a nonprofit or a social impact business
  • Familiar and interested in various coffee brew methods
