Coffee and Events Manager wanted to run and grow a young mobile business.

Permanent, Full-time

Min. 38 hours a week

Salary: £14 per hour plus great benefits

Location: SE-London-based, with a view to take the van anywhere in the UK

Full UK driving licence required

Browns of Brockley is a speciality coffee shop, trading for 10 years in South East London. We want to take our enthusiasm for great service and great coffee on the road – which is why we created a mobile coffee vehicle like no other. Already trading at some of London’s busiest farmers markets, we want to grow this business further in 2019 and are looking for the right person to help do this with us.

This is an exciting role which will give the right candidate the opportunity to help grow and eventually share in the profits of this new side of our business. It would really suit someone interested in maybe starting their own business one day as it will encapsulate all aspects, from crafting coffee, to basic bookkeeping and marketing. We will work with and support the chosen candidate to help manage the existing market sites, while looking forward to grow the business in 2019.

We are looking for a talented and ambitious individual who can do the following:

-Mobilise our Van or Trailer for events

-Either have a background in, or be interested in learning about Speciality Coffee

-Help grow the mobile business, including finding new work

-Basic bookkeeping and office based work, including rotas

-Have experience in giving great customer service whether in Hospitality or Events

-Staffing: Recruitment, retention, training and rotation of staff, ensuring we are always prepared despite some staffing requirements being unpredictable

-Health & Safety: Ensuring guidelines are adhered to

-Stock control: Planning of deliveries and ordering

-Finances: Cash management plan and ensure it is adhered to

Our ideal candidate will have:

-A full UK driving license

-Excellent written and verbal communication skills; the ability to communicate with staff at all levels

-The highest hygiene standards

-Experience of cost control and minimising waste

-Passion for good food and drink

-At least one year’s commitment to the role

-Willingness to grow the business

-Willing to work at weekends

-Logistically strong, organising events from beginning to end

We offer great pay and benefits; in addition to the per-hour salary we are willing to offer a profit share to the right individual after a period of time.

This is the ideal role for someone who:

-Wants to train and learn; whether that be driving a van, making coffee, developing management or more

-Is interested in working within the growing Speciality Coffee industry

-Wants to help develop a new business and get great experience and understanding what it’s like running a small business (with support from owners)

-Would like some freedom of helping choose the direction of this fledgling business

-Has experience of activating coffee/food events, from inception to delivery

-Is always positive, with an attitude for problem-solving and seeking a role that allows for a real sense of ownership and responsibility

-Has a strategic mind with ability / experience of business planning and good business sense

-Displays a management style that gets the most out of people, and fosters staff retention

-Some experience or understanding of the world of outdoor events and markets
