The Mentmore team is growing! We are looking for an experienced barista to run a permanent pitch based in Epsom and to assist in various events around London.
About Mentmore Coffee:
We are a speciality coffee shop on wheels, that supports social enterprises businesses in the hospitality industry by serving their tasty goods at events, festivals and corporate bookings from our Vintage Peugeot J7 Van. We are a young business recruiting for the first official employee of MMC! The primary role will be to run a permanent pitch that has been secured in a park in Epsom, Surrey. The role will also involve supporting the wider events team at various pop ups throughout London.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Coffee/Food Preparation:
In depth coffee knowledge, the ability to dial in and prepare exceptional barista style drinks with use of latte art.
Bake and prepare daily offerings of pastries, baked goods, and light food items.
Ensure all items are made with high-quality ingredients and meet food safety standards.
Stay up-to-date on current coffee and food trends.
Maintaining a good stock level of all products, liaising with suppliers to place orders when necessary
Mobile Van Operations:
Set up and break down the van at location according to schedule
Maintain the van’s cleanliness and organise all equipment and supplies
Conduct routine maintenance checks on the van and equipment
Customer Service:
Provide friendly, attentive service to all customers
Accurately take and prepare customer orders in a timely fashion
Resolve any customer complaints or issues professionally
Build rapport with regular customers and promote Mentmore’s brand
Cash Handling and Sales:
Accurately handle all cash, credit/debit, and mobile payment transactions
Maintain a balanced cash drawer and reconcile cash and sales reports
Achieve daily/weekly sales targets through suggestive selling and promotions
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience as a barista or in a customer service role
Strong coffee knowledge and passion for specialty coffee
Food service experience, ideally in a fast-paced environment
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Basic maths skills for cash handling and inventory management
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (desirable)
Food handler’s certification or ability to obtain it
