Since opening in 2009, Ground Coffee Society has been at the forefront of South-West London’s independent cafe scene, crafting a legacy of premium coffee and beloved culinary experiences. With our own coffee sourcing, roasting, and serving, we’ve established a distinguished reputation for quality and taste. As we continue to grow, we’re on the lookout for a General Manager to steer our vibrant cafe in Putney into an exciting future.

The Role

We are seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented, and energetic individual to lead our team as General Manager. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with our management team, providing solid leadership to our hard-working staff, ensuring operational excellence, and maintaining our high standards of quality control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire our team to achieve excellence in customer service and operational efficiency.
  • Implement creative strategies to establish our cafe as the go-to destination this summer.
  • Ensure quality control across all areas of the cafe, from coffee brewing to customer interactions.
  • Manage staff performance, scheduling, and training, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Contribute innovative ideas for menu development, events, and in-cafe experiences.
  • Budget Management: Oversee financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning to ensure the cafe’s profitability.
  • Stock Management: Efficiently manage stock levels, ordering, and supplier relations to ensure the cafe is well-equipped and cost-effective.
  • Maintain a hands-on approach to all aspects of cafe management, including stepping in on the coffee machine during peak times.

  • Proven experience in hospitality management, with a track record of leading teams to success.
  • Strong leadership skills, capable of motivating and guiding a team towards achieving common goals.
  • Excellent hospitality knowledge, with a passion for exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, demonstrating practical skills and a proactive attitude.
  • Fluent in English, with excellent communication skills.
  • An eagerness to learn, grow, and contribute to the ongoing success of Ground Coffee Society.
