About Us. We are an artisan patisserie/bakery and cafe located on Wood Street, everything is made in house and baked fresh every morning. We use the best quality ingredients and are proud to work with small, independent suppliers. Drinks are made with Wood Street Coffee and Good & Proper Tea with Estate Dairy Milk or gluten free Glebe Farm Oat Milk.

What We Are Looking For. A friendly, experienced candidate to assist the manager in the day-to-day running of our small, independent café. We are looking for someone who can maintain a friendly and productive working atmosphere. You would only be required to work 4 days per week (34 hours) between 7.30am - 4pm and must be able to work some weekends.

Key Responsibilities.

Day to day: • Provide quality beverages and serve food products consistently for all customers by adhering to all recipe and presentation standards • Work quickly, calmly, and efficiently during busy periods while seeking out tasks during quieter periods • Always create a constantly clean cafe environment and beautiful counter display. • Deliver legendary customer service by anticipating customer needs and working with a ‘customer comes first’ attitude. Take a genuine interest in talking to customers, giving them a positive and uplifting experience. • Guide guests through food items, using product knowledge and understanding of baking methods, giving accurate descriptions to help make selections. • Understand the seasonality and origins of ingredients. • Understand all food allergies and allergen & dietary requirement order processes. • Act with integrity, honesty plus knowledge that promote the culture, values, and mission of Wood Street Bakery • Assist in receiving and storing of deliveries and communicating stock information to the manager, help to always maintain stock levels. Reorder retail products in the managers absence.

Team management: • Ensure the coffee offering is of the highest quality and consistent across the front of house team through training and machine maintenance. • Manage and guide the team of baristas in a hands-on positive way - reinforce successful performance as well as giving respectful encouraging coaching as needed. • Ensure the team follow all opening & closing checks. • Contribute to positive team environment by being considerate and kind to fellow staff, recognizing alarms or changes in partner morale / performance and communicating them to the manager. • Encourage the team to seek out tasks during quieter periods including frequent floor sweeping, dish washing, spot cleaning & table clearing. • Ensure the team are performing their job responsibilities and meet all areas of their job descriptions.
