Society Café is a small independent group of Speciality Coffee shops based in Bath, Bristol and Oxford.

We opened our St. Michaels St, Oxford shop in March 2016 and quickly gained the reputation as one of the best coffee shops in the City.

We have an exciting opportunity for a new manager to continue to build on our success in Oxford.

This role will be a hands on role on the shop floor overseeing an exceptional level of customer service and quality coffee offering.

Passion, energy and a genuine desire to offer the very best possible experience to each customer that has chosen to visit us is essential.

You will be working with the very best equipment and the very best products. Our house coffee is directly sourced for us by Origin Coffee Roasters who we work very closely with. For the last 2 years we have visited Nicaragua with them on sourcing trips taking two different members of the team with us on each visit. We are hoping to increase these sourcing trips to twice yearly with other trips to roasters happening regularly.

Guest coffees come from roasters all over the world and change regularly keeping for an exciting offering for both customers and the team.

We are currently looking for further sites in Oxford, Bristol, Exeter, Cardiff and other cities in the South West. This could offer potential growth for the right candidate joining a young progressive company.

Essentials for the role:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in Speciality Coffee

  • Minimum 1 year experience in a similar management position in coffee

  • A passion and energy for pleasing both team members and customers

  • A strong ability to lead by example

  • Full availability

  • Familiar with stock control, inventory, ordering and scheduling

  • An obsession for perfect attention to detail

Desirable for the role:

  • Relevant SCA accredited coffee brewing knowledge

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Management of staff including recruitment and training

  • Weekly rota

  • Working shifts on the shop floor

  • Overseeing the Head Barista in the role and working closely to ensure an exceptional standard of food and beverage offering and presentation

  • Overseeing the highest standards of service and attention to detail

  • Being aware of and understanding the importance of the energy and atmosphere on the shop floor

  • Health and Safety/Food and Hygiene
