Redemption Roasters is a speciality coffee company with a difference. We are the World’s first behind bars coffee company. At our roastery, in Aylesbury Prison, we train young offenders in roasting and competition-level barista skills with the aim to reduce reoffending in the UK. We are excited to announce that we are now opening a second roastery at HMP the Mount, in Hemel Hempstead, just 30 minutes from central London; it goes live in a couple of weeks!:

  • housed in an enormous 800 sq/m industrial unit
  • equipped with a Loring S70 and top-class associated kit
  • collaborating with a forward-thinking education department at the prison committed to outcomes for offenders

At this very exciting time for the company, we are recruiting a Roastery Logistics Manager to help us launch ‘Redemption 2.0’. This role suits a highly organised person keen to progress in a fast-growing company with social impact at its core.

What the role will involve:

  • Overall primary responsibility for all production support functions

  • Internal and external coffee logistics

  • Stock management and recording on inventory management system

  • Receiving, checking and storing all incoming green coffee deliveries

  • Ensuring compliance with HACCP protocols

  • Stock control of packing materials

  • Packing for dispatch

  • Maintenance of all roastery equipment

  • Roasting support

  • Management and development of production schedule

  • Educating trainees in roasting and general roastery work skills

  • Participating in selection of coffee range and cupping

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A logical and systematic approach to work

  • An extremely keen eye for detail and planning

  • The ability to solve problems, be flexible and make decisions

  • A strong motivation to work inside a prison

  • Ability to work with challenging people from all walks of life

  • Maturity, assertiveness and listening skills

  • A passion for coffee

  • An interest, although not necessarily experience, in roasting
