SEND, standing for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, is a coffee company delivering real impact through our charity & social enterprise model. We work with young people aged 18-25 with special needs and disabilities, training them up to be baristas in a competitive market.
We provide them with 40 weeks of training across our sites in Camden, Hackney Wick, East Ham, Canning Town, Forest Gate, ExCel London, and with plans for 2 new gorgeous sites in early 2021. Every shop is independently branded and functions as a great standalone business.
As a complete nonprofit we have a commitment to both quality and mission unlike most other coffee companies, and we’re looking for people who believe in that uncompromising approach to social enterprise. That extends to our coffee quality too, and we believe in overcompensating on the quality of our beans to overcome any prejudices our beneficiaries might experience.
We are looking for a Mentor Barista for the following sites:
Our work is quite intense, so we usually only work a 4 day work week.
The job is on a base salary of £23’000 with opportunity for some bonuses and incentives.
Being a Mentor Barista, you’ll be paired with one of our learners with a special need or disability, ranging from mild to serious, but always having passed a fit for work assessment.
You’ll guide and support this learner over 40 weeks into a permanent role with one of our wonderful partners, whilst you work together in one of our coffee shops.
