The Coffee Jar in an independent cafe, situated in the heart of bustling Camden Town. We have been open for almost ten years, and in that time have established ourselves at the centre of our local community. We pride ourselves on our friendly and efficient customer service. Over the years, we have won and been shortlisted for a number of hospitality industry awards, and have been featured in nationally-recognised publications including TimeOut Magazine and The London Coffee Guide.
We currently have an opening for an experienced manager and barista. This will be a full-time role, commencing immediately. The salary is highly competitive, dependent on experience, and can be discussed further in interview.
The successful applicant will be a highly motivated team player, with a natural aptitude for customer service. You will be highly focused, recognising the importance of every small detail. We are looking for an individual with demonstrable experience in a managerial role, a person who can efficiently and empathetically direct a small team of colleagues. Your previous experience will allow you to ‘jump right in’ to the role, leading your team and using your initiative to solve any problems that may arise, and delegating tasks where necessary.
We require an individual with strong organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise a dynamic workload. In addition to customer service and food and beverage preparation, your day-to-day responsibilities will include: -Liaising with suppliers -Monitoring stock levels -Organising staff shifts -Managing cash -Completing health and safety paperwork In the long term, you will identify any issues, such as food wastage or lags in service efficiency, and use your initiative to implement solutions. Additionally, you will utilise your hospitality experience to suggest seasonal changes to our menu. In discussions with the business owner, you will create and cost new menu items, and train staff in the preparation and service of these.
The successful applicant will have a strong background in the speciality coffee sector, and will be confident in all aspects of coffee preparation and service, and equipment cleaning and maintenance. Furthermore, you will take a leading role in the training of new colleagues, ensuring that all team members prepare coffees to the same high standard. We use a La Marzocco Linea Two Group and a Mazzer grinder, and you will need to be proficient in the use and maintenance of these. You will be skilled in pouring latte art, and will be able to work behind the coffee machine independently and at speed in a consistently fast-paced environment.
