Staple is a bakery and coffee shop which has three locations in East Kent. Our quality driven bakery never compromises, with all of our ingredients sourced locally and sustainably.

We are looking for a driven individual, with a focus to make our coffee offer the best. With the drive and want to be part of a company keeping our reputation of one of the best cafes in the area not only for fabulous baked goods but equally delicious coffee.

We work very closely with Curve Coffee based in Margate using their coffee for both our house espresso and our filter coffee. The individual would forge a strong relationship with Curve to help us train and continue to deliver a fantastic coffee offer across our shops. 

The role would be across 5 days 40-42 hours, working in the shops 4 of the days and then 1 day working with the other baristas to help and support their coffee.

Key responsibilities:

  • Dialing in espresso and filter coffee

  • Quality control across the stores

  • Support existing baristas and front of house in maintaining quality standards and latte art

  • Train new starters on the basics of coffee preparation

  • Overseeing ordering and stock management ensuring correct resting times

  • Overseeing basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, record keeping for servicing and water filter change

  • Drive coffee sale and quality whilst ensuring profitability

  • Foster a positive atmosphere, encourage learning and good product knowledge within the team

The candidate must have

  • People skills and ability to easily interact with our customers

  • Strong barista skills and a good understanding of the speciality coffee industry and its customer base

  • Ability to work as a part of a team as well as lead and coach its members

Preferences for candidates

  • 3+ year(s) barista experience in a speciality coffee setting

  • 1+ year(s) supervisor/manager experience in a hospitality setting

  • Ability to dial in espresso and filter with a varying origin and processes

  • Keen eye for detail, and a no compromise approach to quality

  • Drive for outstanding quality all the time
