Esters is an ambitious independent cafe in Stoke Newington. We have been featured in the Telegraph’s top 30 coffee shops in the UK and Eater’s 13 Best London Breakfasts. Eater named our miso white chocolate cookie as the best in London, and Felicity Cloake (The Guardian) picked our mince pies as her favourite of 2018.

We recently refurbished the café – it’s a brand new, functional, beautifully designed space.

Coffee comes from Has Bean, tea is from Postcard Teas. We use a Linea Classic, Mythos One and EK-43.

Our food is seasonally focussed and creative. We make the majority of our products from scratch in our small kitchen. Food is a really big part of what we do – we are looking to hire someone who eats out or cooks regularly, and generally shares our love of great food and drink.

We are looking for a FOH Supervisor (35-40 hours/week) with at least one years’ experience in a supervisor or management level position, and with at least two years’ experience in the industry. We’re looking for someone with an exceptionally positive attitude and who is a great communicator. Coffee experience is a bonus but not required; we are able to provide training to the coffee level we require.

Responsibilities will include supervising the other FOH staff, ensuring our high standards of customer service are maintained, and a small amount of stock control and ordering (of beverages, consumables).

Applicants must be able to work weekends. We aim to give all staff one weekend day off regularly.

You will

  • Possess a friendly disposition and exceptionally positive attitude

  • Share our passion for providing outstanding hospitality

  • Have at least one years’ experience in a supervisor/management level position, and at least two years’ experience in the industry

  • Be a direct, concise and effective communicator

  • Have an interest in food and cook/eat out regularly

  • Be able to work independently and self-manage, but also work well within a team

  • Be fastidious about cleanliness, organisation and timekeeping

  • Have excellent English communication skills
