Browns of Brockley is a neighbourhood coffee shop in Brockley, South-East London. We have been trading from the same location for the last ten years to a growing stream of regular customers. While we have recently expanded our business into the world of mobile operations and events, the shop still remains at the heart of the business, one which we plan to continue growing and improving. To this end we are looking for a strong, business-minded, customer-focused individual to pick up the running of the shop. 

Experience in the following key responsibilities, or at least the ability to transfer similar skills, will be greatly beneficial: – Supervising shifts: delegation, allocating roles & breaks – Ordering, stock management, cost and waste control – Rotas, managing holiday requests, regular team and one-to-one meetings – Machinery maintenance and repair: keeping regular check of equipment and booking engineers when needed

All of the above will be carried out throughout the week alongside working on shift. This means skill and knowledge of speciality coffee, along with great personable customer service, are as vital as your managerial strengths. Some coffee training is provided by our roastery Square Mile Coffee but we mostly rely on in-house training for new staff to develop to our particular standards and style, so it would be useful for candidates to have the relevant skills to learn how we do things then pass down to new staff with high quality training.
