Redemption Roasters is a speciality coffee company with a difference.

In 2017 we launched our first coffee roastery and barista training academy at HMYOI Aylesbury with the aim to reduce reoffending. Since then we’ve set up 8 further barista academies across England, with a second roastery in HMP The Mount and four more barista academies to be expected this year After release, we help place our ‘Graduates’ into employment either in our own shops or with our industry partners. We are currently looking for a Barista Trainer to deliver our course within a prison academy and assist our Head of Education in maintaining our outstanding standards across all Prison Training Academies. We are looking for someone with strong coffee making experience as well as a strong passion for criminal and social justice. You will be a leader by example and have the chance to be part of the growing and innovative side the coffee industry.

Your responsibilities would be:

-Delivering exceptional barista training including espresso preparation and extraction theory, milk technique and pouring, alternative brewing methods, and cleaning and maintenance -Supporting learner development of soft skills including communication, time management, customer service, teamwork and hospitality -Working with vulnerable people and overseeing their personal development, utilising HMPPS learning tools -Ensuring Redemption Roasters classroom environments are informative, stimulating, enjoyable and encouraging places that promote excellence in coffee and personal development -Working closely with our Through the Gates Mentor to place graduates appropriately in a supportive professional environment upon release -Working closely with the Head of Education and external partners to further develop robust and industry relevant specialty barista training -Conducting Learner assessments and audits of training provision -Adhere to all HMPPS and LSS safety policies and procedures

Qualifications:

-Experience in preparing specialty coffee -Strong espresso machine aptitude and troubleshooting skills -Familiarity with industrial tools and equipment -Employment dependent on successful vetting and DBS check
