Are you a progressive thinker willing to make a change in coffee growing communities while keeping Espresso consistency and Latte Art to a high standard? Is learning a big light on your path? Can you tell the difference between apple acidity and passion fruit acidity in an Espresso?
This is a limited opportunity for a serious passionate Barista willing to learn about the origins of coffee from coffee botanics and classification to roasting, understanding sensory notes, espresso brewing and ethical trade.
The role involves general barista duties, including setting the daily espresso recipe, latte art, and learning new techniques relevant to traditional Colombian drinks such as working with raw cacao and panela. We are looking for someone who is also interested in learning how to roast, and in leading cupping sessions. We are a small team and we all pull our weight setting up in the morning and packing away equipment at the end of the day.
We are only interested in professional baristas that can explain why they should be part of our ethical coffee initiative.
We are looking for keen coffee lovers - who are friendly, ethically minded, hard working, ready to lend a hand, positive and bring a good sense of humour to a friendly professional team.
This is a unique opportunity for someone passionate about coffee to learn more about the wider coffee trade and become part of a journey to bring ethical coffee to the UK. As well as our café, market stall and roastery, we also run and participate in events related to coffee and ethical trade, and also to Colombian culture, check our social media @EthicalCaffeine. If you prove yourself as one of the team, there may also be some opportunity to visit projects in Colombia.
