We’re looking for an experienced Barista 3 days a week at Alchemy Coffee’s Spitalfields site (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.)

Our bar is located in an impressive office building which is adjacent to Spitalfields Market. We serve specialty coffee, drinks and food, serving office building tenants and their clients as well as members of the public.

Alchemy Coffee is a small, family run business and we’d like someone with amazing coffee knowledge, passion and enthusiasm to join our team!

Who we’re looking for:

A barista who can help create and nurture an environment that embodies Alchemy’s values: Quality, Passion, Mutuality, Curiosity, Pride, Work Ethics and Value.

You will maintain and improve our standards through regular maintenance, cleaning, reporting to Alchemy’s Head of Coffee in terms of brand standards, as well as to the on-site Bar Manager.

We’d like you to have excellent communication skills and be able to provide professional feedback in an articulate manner.

The Responsibilities

  • Basic tasks such as opening and closing the cafe, taking orders, cleaning and front of house duties.
  • Work as a barista to an excellent standard and ensure the same from the rest of the team.
  • Clean and maintain all equipment, liaising regularly with our in-house engineering team.
  • Keep developing and learning new skills to keep up with new trends and techniques.
  • Follow recipes for all new coffees, espresso and filter, as set by Alchemy’s Head of Coffee.
  • Provide support to the manager and be responsible when the manager or supervisor is not onsite
  • Follow all health and safety guidelines put in place
  • Maintaining coffee stock levels and placing orders each week.
  • Assisting the Bar team with sandwich and other food preparation where required.
  • Assisting the Bar team with serving of alcohol where required. Training will be provided if needed.

Requirements

  • Excellent wide-ranging coffee knowledge and equipment experience
  • A proactive and positive attitude
  • Clean, efficient and organised
  • An understanding of basic food hygiene and health and safety requirements
  • Fluent in English
  • Neat professional presentation

The Key Facts - Starting at London Living Wage with the opportunity to increase. - Approx 27 hours per week, 08:00 – 17:00 Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. - Additional hours are available if you are interested in working at evening events in the building for tenants, serving food and alcohol.
